ABUSE must STOP
Let us STOP abuse by opening up, sharing and exposing abuses!
Given the huge numbers of women and men who are abused by their intimate partners, and the preponderance of relationship / domestic / partner / spousal abuse, it is a tragedy that most recipients of such cruel injustices still feel isolated, alone and ashamed. Many feel that they do not have anyone to share their trial and tribulations with. They feel that they cannot talk openly about their sufferings with friends, family members, colleagues, employers, strangers, and society in general. Unless the abuse occurs in the presence of a witness, perhaps a child, parent, sister, roommate, of friend, sufferers are unlikely to speak about their experiences with anybody. Sometimes, these inhibitions leave them with no one else to discuss the abuses with except – unfortunately – the perpetrator himself or herself. Based on the abundant statistics and anecdotal evidence available, this conversation leans more towards defining the majority of perpetrators as male, while the majority of the sufferers are female. This is not meant to exclude those males who are abused by females or females abused by females or males abused by other males. The overwhelming evidence available, for different reasons- mind you – indicates that there are more reported incidences of males abusing females. At a later point we will go into detail about possible explanations for this phenomenon.
The major purpose of this conversation space is to enable sufferers to share their stories and even solicit informal – albeit – well thought out and genuine responses from fellow sufferers, well wishers, concerned members, compassionate members, empowering sources, qualified experts when available, and from other sources that may be available. This conversation space encourages members to liberate themselves from the burdens of secrecy related to the abuses that they have suffered, are suffering, have witnessed, know about and have permission to share or are suspecting might be perpetrated against them or close others. The advice, responses, suggestions, comments and thoughts that will be offered here are all non-binding and not formal. We are not liable for any consequences that may come as a result of any advice, stories, sharing, or anything shared on this space – blog. The best sources for professional advice are trained experts, victims’ assistance and advocacy organizations, and law enforcement agencies. Where appropriate, links to some partnering organizations will be provided, with the permission of the administrators responsible.
We invite you to start sharing your stories and questions immediately. WELCOME to the liberation zone embedded within the Empowering Education umbrella.

As I read the blog on abuse it touched me in special way, I am too a victim of physical abuse and I am lucky that I got out. Abuse happens all the time and we have to stop ignoring it like it doesn’t exists. If it wasn’t for me telling somebody I would have never gotten out. Many women wait until it’s too late to tell someone to try to get out, as soon as the abuse starts it’s your job to get out of that relationship. I want to share my voice so that women know that they can get out and move on with their life. This happened to me when I was 15 and I am now 18 living a very happy life without him. In the article it talked about many people that you can talk to such as: trained experts, victims’ assistance and advocacy organizations, and law enforcement. In general if there is anyone that you feel you can trust you should tell. I want to make sure that abuse will not be a big factor in generations to come. My hope is that my voice and my story can influence another.
My older sister who to this day is still being abused is struggling everyday with it. I tell her everyday I talk to her to get out. I want to treat everyone going through this like my sister and help them get through this tragic time.
As a young african american female, i feel that to protect ourself from abuse we realize the only man we should real depend on is god.Dont let nobody put you down about yourself.Keep god in your heart and he will show you the way.
I have seen someone very close to me being abuse. It is hard to deal with abuse when you cannot do anything to help the person. I have seen someone thrown down stairs head first, slammed into doors, and beating on. I understand you are supposed to call the police but when they arrive they do not do anything to help. The word abuse is the keyword to the reason why sociology is my major, so I can help children in broken homes. It affects the children when they have to see this go on or even happen to them. Additionally children that are abuse tend to become the abuser later in life. Abuse has many different categories, such as verbal, mental, and physical. People hear about physical abuse more often because it shows on the outside. Verbal and mental abuse is rarely heard of because sometimes the person who is being abuse cannot see it; they believe its love and do nothing to stop it. I get angry and hurt every time I think about abuse. It is one thing to talk about wanting to stop abuse; but its best to make your words into actions. I have never been abuse, and pray that I will never be abused.

The Blog "Stop Abuse Now" I hope it open up Women and Men eye's. That we need to come together as family and stop the abuse. We could start by keeping are hands to our selves. Another thing that we could do is watch what we say to each other. Abuse is a serious thing and we need to take it more serious.

Abuse
People are abused every day. Abuse is a powerful thing and should not be enclosed. There are many types of abuse; sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and many others. Sexual abuse involves touching and mistreating of the body in a sexual way. Sexual abuse also is having sex with someone against their will. Emotional abuse is when someone threatens or calls them out their name. This usually involves high ranges of anger and lots of jealously between the couple. Physical abuse is when someone hits, beats, or stabs you. Physical abuse has many side effects such as bruises, scratches, and sometimes internal weaknesses. Men and women suffer from abuse daily, many don’t report the abuse. Sometimes women are too scared to report their abuser because of the humiliation and also the threats from their abuser. Men are scared to report their abuser also because of humiliation. Most men are ashamed to report their abuser because others will think that they can’t “handle” their women, having too much pride. Personally I have never experienced any kind of abuse. Although there are many signs of abuse, I just haven’t noticed them. I take abuse very seriously, though no one in my immediate family has suffered from abuse. My heart goes out to those who have suffered from abuse. It’s a real sad situation.
Love, in its genuine form, is one of the remedies we can all to - in our efforts to stop abusive behaviors. Love starts at home; it starts with loving yourself! That is what we all need to work on first. Then, we can protect ourselves and set boundaries that protect us from abusive environments!
